Stake CHR
Stake CHR. Get paid in USDG.
A stake in cooldown stops earning at once and can still be slashed until it is withdrawn.
What staking CHR is for
Staked CHR stands behind the Chroma vault, and stakers are paid in USDG for standing there.
It backs the vault
If one of the vault's markets is left with bad debt, the stake covers it, up to a cap. That is what the stake is: the capital that takes a loss so depositors do not.
It is paid in USDG
Not in more of the token. When vault fees are paid into the contract they are split across every active stake at that moment, in proportion. There is no rate. What is paid is what arrives, and the all-time figure is on this page.
It can be slashed, up to a cap
At most 30% of the whole stake, at most once every 30 days, and only by the contract owner. The cap limits the slash, not the token: what is not slashed can still lose its value.
Unstaking takes 7 days
A stake cannot leave the moment it is needed. Once you start unstaking it stops earning, waits out the cooldown, and can be slashed until it is withdrawn. You can put it back at any time.
Order of loss
Three places a loss can land, in the order it lands on them.
- 01
Surplus buffer
Fed by the vault's fee and spent first. It starts empty.
- 02
Staked CHR
Up to 30% of the whole stake, once every 30 days, taken to cover the loss. Every stake gives up the same share, in cooldown or not.
- 03
Depositors
Whatever the buffer and the capped slash do not repay. The stake is there to make this rare. It cannot make it impossible.
Read before staking: the staking contract is new and has not been audited by a third party. Its source is public and its rules are enforced on chain: a 30% slash cap per 30 days, a 7 days cooldown, and USDG only when someone funds it. The owner who can slash is the deployer address, until it is moved to a multisig. CHR can lose value. Anything sold under this name at another address is not ours. This page describes a mechanism. It is not an offer. Terms.
